The ancestor of the current Lange Zeitwerk dates back to 1841. This happens thanks to the activation of a clutch that releases the hour ring from the jumping digits mechanism.

It is worth noting the size of the disc pattern: the tens and minute discs are wide and measure 19.0 and 12.7 millimeters in diameter, respectively. The most interesting aspect is the distance of just 0.2 mm between the discs, a characteristic we experienced during our visit to the factory years ago, where a group of young but very experienced Saxon watchmakers follow the entire production cycle of the collection.

The only part not to change, and it did not need updates, is the set of finishes on the movement, widely visible through the sapphire crystal placed on the case back. From the most “simple” Glashütte ribbons to gold chatons, engravings on the balance wheel and escapement bridge to anchor, the level is decidedly high.
