Fertility nurses are just like the nurses who help in reproduction with guidance from gynecologists and fertility experts. These nurses help those who are in need like issues related to conceiving and need to treat fertility issues. They also help women who suffer from menstrual problems and also those who go through menopause. They teach and gain knowledge of their patients after acknowledging their signs and symptoms of theirs and treating them as required. The one who has done a master’s in assisted reproductive technology is the one who can become a fertility nurse. Fertility nurses are found working in the clinical department and also give medical care to those who are in need.

Fertility nurses work in hospitals, Reproductive clinics, Egg donation centers, Counselling programs, and Obstetrics and gynecology departments. Issues are always a sensitive matter that affects almost everyone’s life and for treating this, fertility nurses need to be very patient and attentive so that the issue can be cured. They must be responsible and easy to communicate with the patients very politely.

Qualification Required to Become a Fertility Nurse

Firstly, the fertility nurses must be registered nurses and for this, an individual must be having two-year Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) and if not, they must have done a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) which is of four years.

The second step for that particular individual is to achieve the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) with good marks.

Then after this, the next step is that the individual must apply for state licensure as a registered nurse. The one who has a BSN degree is given more preference than the one who has an ADN degree.

It is necessary to have some years of working experience in Fertility care and then only that individual can become a certified reproductive nurse.

Certificates That Are Required to Become a Fertility Expert

National certification corporation gives specialty certificates to those who completed special courses like gynecology, obstetrics, and so on. The examination is taken in the (Computer based training) CBT mode and multiple choice questions are there which are to be attempted. If an individual has an NCC certificate then it is more beneficial.

Role of a Fertility Nurse

Fertility nurses manage the individual who undergoes fertility issues very patiently and efficiently so that both the individual and the nurse can understand each other easily and then assist them with the whole procedure of treatment. They are both, an assistant and a guide to the doctors and their patients respectively.

Fertility nurses help in treating their parents who undergo infertility due to many reasons. They also guide women who go through their time of menopause. They even help and support the loved ones present over there with the patient. Working with researchers who research many technologies related to reproduction is the most enjoyable thing they wish to do. They guide their patient and tell them the pros and cons of the selected procedure just in the case of in vitro fertilization (IVF).  They even counsel the couples as well as the donor till the procedure is done successfully.

Fertility nurses and reproductive nurses are mostly similar. They help and guide their patients and work as an assistant to physicians. Infertility has become a major issue nowadays and these nurses work as great support. Nurses will be required a lot in the coming days and also will be in great demand.  Nurses even take a fellowship in infertility which is just like an internship program that trains the nurse. So the nurses must be certified as it shows the experience and training taken in the respective field.
