Employee Provident Fund is a retirement saving plan established by the company. Both the employee and the company contribute to a savings account, which may be utilized if the employee retires or moves employment. The interest rate on EPF contributions is 8.5 percent for the fiscal year 2021-22, which is lower than the FD rates in India. PDF calculators, similar to fixed deposit calculators, are online tools that assist with computing EPF estimates upon retirement.
SMS missed calls, EPFO app/Umang app, EPFO Portal/Umang App, and EPFO Portal/Umang App may all be used to check your EPF balance. Employees may now access their EPF balance and PF data online in seconds.
Using the EPFO Portal, You May Check Your PF Balance.
Ensure your employer has approved your Universal Account Number before checking your EPF amount (UAN). Every employee who participates in the EPF plan is given a UAN or unique identification number. Regardless of how many organizations they work for, all employees should have just one UAN for the duration of their employment. The UAN is essential since the entire EPF service process is now online. You may easily use your PF account services, such as withdrawals, EPF balance monitoring, and EPF loan application, using UAN.
Follow these procedures when your UAN number has been activated:
Step 1: Navigate to the EPFO website. Navigate to the ‘Our Services’ tab and choose “for employees” from the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Next, choose “Member passbook” from the “Services” menu.
Step 3: Go to the login page. After you’ve activated your UAN, enter your UAN number and password here. After signing in, you can access your data and account.
Send an SMS to check your PF balance.
After your UAN has been linked to your KYC information, proceed as follows:
- Send the text 7738299899 to your phone.
- The message should be structured as ‘EPFOHO UAN ENG.’
- In the SMS, you must choose your chosen communication language. Enter the first three characters of the desired language. Use EPFOHO UAN ENG as the first three characters of the word to get updates in English.
- If you wish to get message updates in Marathi, type EPFOHO UAN MAR into the search box. English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali are supported.
To join the Employees’ Provident Fund, you must have a UAN number. Individual users may also establish their Universal Account Number via the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s (EPFO) website (often known as UAN). Once you have your 12-digit UAN number, you may access your Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) account. A fixed deposit calculator may help you figure out how much money you’ll have when you retire. EPF contributions receive 8.5 percent interest, which is higher than FD rates in India. EPFO also allows you to check your passbook to see how much money is in your EPF account and your pf data.
Using a Missed Call to Check the PF Balance
To know your EPF balance and PF status, make a missed call from your registered mobile number to the allowed phone number. You may utilize this service if your UAN is connected to your KYC information.
- After your UAN has been linked to your KYC data, proceed as follows:
- Give a missed call from your registered mobile phone to 011-22901406.
- If you miss a call, you will get an SMS with your PF information.

Using the Umang/EPFO app, you may check your PF balance.
Before verifying your PF status, ensure your firm has activated your UAN number. You may also confirm your PF data by visiting the Google Play Store and downloading the EPFO “m-Sewa app.”
After downloading the app, go to ‘Member’ and then ‘Balance/Passbook.’
After that, enter your UAN and registered cellphone number. The system will compare your phone number to your UAN. You’ll be able to view your updated EPF balance after double-checking all of the information. If there is a mismatch, it will prompt an error.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has developed the “Umang” app. Umang is one platform that incorporates, among other government services, Aadhaar, gas booking, crop insurance, NPS, and EPF. This program may also be used to validate your EPF data.
After installation, the EPFO option may be found in the app’s settings.
