Best Places to Visit in Coorg

Tadiandamol Trek, Coorg

This trek is Second highest mountain in the state of Karnataka, Tadiandamol is the highest peak of the district of Coorg. It is situated at a sterling height of approximately 1.7 kilometers above the sea level. It is 30 km away from a town in Karnataka Virajpet and lies to the south-eastern part of Coorg district.

A place for trekking, the peak is among the popular tourist spots in Coorg for leisure and recreational activities. The appropriate time for trekking is during winters, as on average South India is warm, and hence winters would give the enjoyment to the tourists. It offers tourists with bucolic and scenic beauty and thus riveting the tourists making the surrounding as beautiful as ever, and adoration of the nature lovers. The time to visit Tadiandamol is during the months of November to June.

Tourists can take private vehicles for increased mobility. To reach the summit, one is required to trek through a heightened terrain. The trekking to the summit is not with ease; rather could be heavy and a bane which one needs to be cautious of. On their way to the summit and the point of interest the trekkers can have a hotspot at the Nalknad Palace, which could be considered a better option for camping during the chilly night.

Dubare Elephant Camp, Coorg

Dubare Elephant Camp is located at the banks of River Kaveri in Coorg district of Karnataka state. One of the popular tourist destinations, the camping disposition attracts the tourists, especially enthusiasts one for wild flora and fauna, from around the world. It presents tourists with a gainful opportunity to be near endemic elephants and gives the opportunity to engage in multiple recreational activities related to them.

Harangi Dam, Coorg

Harangi dam is situated in the Hudgur, a village that is near the Kushal-nagar of Coorg District. It is constructed over the tributary of River Cauvery. Harangi dam is the first dam that has been constructed over River Cauvery. It has a height and weight has a beautifying element to it, that adds to its attractiveness. 

A among the few industrious picnic spots, it is appropriate for families, with children.  Abode where one can become calm and spend some calm moments with his/her adored ones. It is located at approximately 36 km from Madikeri and can be reached with effective ease. 

Honnamana Kere Lake, Coorg

Honnamana Kere Lake is a popular tourist spot in Coorg. It is the largest lake in the region of Coorg district, also providing for the ecosystem of the region.  Honnamana Kere attracts formidable tourists each year, which adds to the circular economy of the Coorg district. It is located in Daddamalthe, which is at a distance of 6 km from Somwarpet town. The lake doesn’t attract just environment adorers, but also religious tourists, as it has religious significance as it is named after the after feminine Goddess Honnamma. One can also find a temple for the Goddess Honnamma, located on the lake.

Omkareshwara Temple, Coorg

Omkareshwara Temple, the most famous Shiva temple in Madikeri was built with the support of  Linga Rajendra in 1820. The temple is located near Madikeri, which in turn is an architectural acme. The temple has a tinge of both Islamic as well as the Gothic style of architecture, adding to the taste of uncertainty, to the tour.

One can find an adorable pool in front of the temple. One can also conspicuously observe the four Minarets around the premise and a dome in the centre of the temple. A footpath leads to the Mandapa, of the temple. Here the Sivalinga,  was also named as Omkareshwar.

Mallalli Falls, Coorg

Located near the foot of Pushpagiri Hill Ranges. The Mallalli Falls are among the best places in Coorg to spend some time with friends as well as families. Mallalli Falls are created when River Kumaradhara oozes the water down the peak of Pushpagiri Peak, which is over an average calculated height of approximately 200 feet.

These falls are fabulous for trekking. Trekkers will come across eye-catching routes with beautiful settings around them which makes the overall journey quite a new fun. However, there are many impediments that would make the routes hectic for few. Hence one must be better prepared for such conditions while trekking.
