We have prepared a list with 10 suggestions to understand how to write the thesis (also applies to a diploma or master’s thesis …). Here they are. How to write the thesis: useful tips!

LOCATION

Choose a suitable location: library, study room, bedroom, parents’ office. Choose a quiet space that helps you focus. Keep it tidy, leave only the things inside that will be really useful to you. Keeping the “free field” helps you have more control over the situation.

CALENDAR AND PROGRAM

Make a calendar of things to do and a roadmap that takes into account the days available and the degree of difficulty of the individual steps. Adjusted based on the body of the work, the delivery date, other exams you will have to take, and any additional commitments and activities.

CONCENTRATION

Concentrate! Do not be distracted by news, notifications, phone calls … Isolate myself for a while. Maybe take a break every 45 minutes, every hour. But during those 45-60 minutes, just think about the thesis. You will finish much earlier.

TALK TO YOUR SPEAKER

Look for a confrontation with him. We know that sometimes the lecturers can become elusive, but … Look for him, let him understand that the comparison is necessary. Get his Skype contact if he’s too busy to meet you in person. Make a list of questions that are as short and specific as possible. You will have little time available, you have to maximize it!

TALK TO GRADUATES

Talk to recent and graduate students: seek their advice and feedback, ask for suggestions on drafting and discussion: they will be invaluable.

COLLECT THE MATERIAL

Find the study materials and books you will need! Look for the most valuable books for your work: if you can’t buy them (online or in a paper library), borrow them from the university library… Quickly! Someone else may be faster than you and copies may run out! Alternatively, you can use creative and low-cost solutions: for example, have you ever thought of subscribing to Amazon Unlimited to consult your favorite ebooks among those available? The first month is free, it could be interesting!

DO NOT GIVE UP

Do not give up. Never give up. Think every day about how important what you are doing is and how important it will be for your career. Give yourself strong motivation! You are building your future: the results will come!

DO IT TOGETHER WITH OTHERS

Organize study groups: as the saying goes, “We are in the same boat”. It is true! ATTENTION TO LENGTH

Don’t be fooled: your thesis doesn’t have to be a very long job. For a three-year thesis, 50 to 70 pages are enough; in the case of a master’s degree, 100 pages are enough. Dedicate your commitment to curating the contents, not their total length.

NO ANXIETY, NO FEAR
